Bay of Fires

Mount William National Park and the Bay of Fires

The well publicised Bay of Fires and neighboring Mount William National Park is a stunning location for photography and often voted one of the top tourist destinations of Australia. It has masses of fiery red rocks, and pure white sandy beaches which contrast against the azure blue Indian ocean.

Picnic Rocks

Located on North of Eddystone Point lighthouse half way along Deep Creek Road an outcrop of red lichen covered granite boulders sit amongst the waves. I would say these rocks are best shot at sunset as the backlighting of sunrise will leave them silhouetted. As they rise above the horizon hard edged grad filters can leave them underexposed and with an obvious exposure line. By using soft edge grads this can be minimised.

Eddystone Point Lighthouse

Plenty of nice rock formations with leading lines to shoot back towards the lighthouse. The image on the bottom left is one a my favourite images and a great example of this. Depending on what the tide is doing you may struggle to get out to this little island…not that it was easy in the first place, it required some rock climbing skills.
