Lake Bled, in the far North West of Slovenia is a glacial lake surrounded by the Julian Alps. On its shore is Bled, a popular tourist destination and a great place to base yourself whilst exploring the nearby Vintgar Gorge and Triglav National Park. Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary stands at the top of 99 steps on this the only natural island in Slovenia. They say it is good luck to carry your bride to the top of the steps, all it got me was very sore legs and a mild cardiac arrest. It was great fun rowing across Lake Bled to get there and once in the church ringing the bell, I highly recommend it.
