Happy New Year all, here’s to a great 2014. I guess now is a good time to see what I’ve actually achieved in the last year photography wise, sum it up in a blog post and look forward to achieving bigger and better things for 2014. A reoccurring New Years resolution is that I go out and take more photos. 2014 is going to be slightly different. For a start I’m moving to France in just over two weeks. This will be a huge change for me and will hopefully bring new motivation for me with a change in culture and scenery. So onto the 2013 highlights.

Looking at my blog it seems a bit bleak and that I haven’t really achieved much however my Facebook page tells a different story. Actually there is hope that 2013 has been a successful year.

Creatively one of my proudest achievements would have to be the time-lapse I did of this years Vivid festival. It has been my most liked and shared post on Social media with well over 100 shares. I wonder if Paris has something similar for me to shoot!

I have also been very selective in the images I post culling many that just weren’t up to par. I would have to say this years selection of my best images show a continued improvement on previous years. A trend I would like to continue but hopefully with a faster turn around from capture to upload. I still have images from my trip to Kosciuszko and France to post from earlier on in the year.

Here are a selection of 12 of my best images from 2013.

In business I had the honour of gaining accreditation through the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (A.I.P.P). I can now add the letters A.A.I.P.P. (Accredited member of A.I.P.P.) to my title after winning more awards at their annual national competition.

I also taught Photoshop to over 60 students mostly from the Focus Flickr Group (thanks guys), as well as holding a number of capture courses and mentoring students over several weeks.

2013 was the year of Google+ Hangouts. I managed to rope in some top photographers to chat with including Peter Eastway, Tom Putt, Antonio Ranieri, Luke Austin, and many others. I really need to continue with this in 2014, they are great fun and a good way to speak to others in the industry. Thanks to all the participated, hope to hangout with you all from across the pond.

So in review I’m actually quite pleased with 2013. I achieved more than I thought and captured some of my best work to date. I look forward to a change in direction in 2014, concentrating on building my portfolio in Europe, teaching less and working towards new goals such as a new website, online video tutorials and tours in 2015.

By all means look me up if you are in the South of France.
