Queensland in the tropical North of Australia is renowned for it’s white sand beaches, tropical rain forrest, and the magnificient Great Barrier Reef. I travelled Queensland in 2003 as a backpacker but have yet to explore Queensland with my new found skills and camera equipment, here is where I have managed to visit in the last year.

Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef
The Whitsundays with their crystal clear azure waters and powdery white sands have to be arguably the best beaches in Australia. A short trip by boat or a scenic helicopter ride from Hamilton Island brings you to Heart Shaped Reef (as pictured below), Hardy Reef part of the Great Barrier Reef, an unforgetable place to snorkle and dive.

Springbrook National Park
Springbrook National Park and Natural Bridge are only a short drive from Queensland’s Gold Coast. Natural Bridge is unique in that the waterfall has eroded through the rock and rather than flowing down a rock face it falls into a cave home to a glowworm colony.
