Pentland Hills, Edinburgh, Scotland

5 March, 2012 (18:29) | latest images | By: Lee Duguid

Visiting my home town of Balerno and the surrounding Pentland Hills as an adult I now appreciate its beauty. I remember cycling around here as a child, exploring the foot hills and reservoir. It didn't seem that amazing at the time, it was what I was used to and my interest in photography and nature hadn't developed yet. Looking back I would love to be able to cycle around it now, mind you it was close to freezing when I took this photo, something I'm not used to living in Australia. It has been 15 years since I have lived in Balerno, now I only return to visit my father every couple of years.

Loch Rannoch, Scotland, UK

31 May, 2011 (09:39) | latest images | By: Lee Duguid

Finally I'm posting my first ever photographs from Scotland, I only lived there for 21 years so it's about time. The first series of images are from the magnificent Loch Rannoch. You have never experienced midges (small biting insects) until you have been to the moors and Highlands of Scotland in the summer. Unfortunately they really hampered my photo taking on a number of occassions, they are unbearable. However the stunning countryside, wild deer and amazing sunrises made up for it.

Isle of Skye Isle of Skye, Scotland preview

Photographed at sunrise from above the Old Man of Storr on Scotland's Isle of Skye. An early morning hour long hike in the dark was well rewarded with an amazing sunrise. This photo shows the sunlight pouring over distant mountains on mainland Scotland. The islands of Rona and Raasay in the foreground surrounded by the Sound of Raasay.
